DISCOVER THE UNDERGROUND CELLARS OF A CASTLE!
Immerse yourself in the history of Saint-Émilion through the unique experience offered by Château Villemaurine, whose history is closely intertwined with that of the medieval town.
This guided tour invites you to discover a little-known aspect of the local heritage, highlighting the role of religious orders, such as monks and mendicant orders, in the development of the village of Saint-Émilion and its vineyards. You will travel back in time to the origins of the name ‘Villemaurine’, the etymology of which will be revealed to you during the experience, bearing witness to the spiritual and cultural heritage of the place.
The tour will take you through the château’s historic vineyard, before descending into the ancient underground quarries, hand-dug by generations of quarrymen. You will walk in their footsteps through this stone labyrinth, a reflection of expertise passed down through the centuries, before reaching the monolithic cellar, a veritable sanctuary where the latest vintage rests.
This one-hour immersion concludes with a guided tasting of two wines, including Château Villemaurine Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé, which elegantly embodies the richness of this exceptional terroir.
